A Little History, A Sad Story And A Great Story About The American Buffalo
It must be said that the American Buffalo was, at one time; the mainstay of Native American life. At one time in America there where tens of thousands of them running in the wild in large herds. It's been estimated that at one time in America there were about 50 million buffalo rooming the American Plains. Native Americans hunted them for food and every piece of the Buffalo was used for something. The meat was their main food source. The hides were used for clothing and shelter. The buffalo horn and bones were used in ceremonies and religious practices. Because of a bad immigration policy which let the white man come into their land, the American Buffalo was slandered into extinction by the white man mainly out of greed and to make Native Americans starve and force them onto reservations. By the 1870's, with the encouragement of the US Government, huge buffalo herds were being slaughtered by the thousands just for the sport of it. It wasn't uncommon for travelers in the West to come upon vast buffalo herds consisting of herds of dead buffalo shot by white man simply rotting away in the hot sun. White man almost slaughtered them into obliviation. Fortunately today, many Native American tribes are raising, herding and processing buffalo again. Buffalo is a high energy, low calorie, low fat and low cholesterol food. You will want to try the new rage in energy foods called Tanka Bars and Tanka bites. Gourmet Retailer-The Nation's Leading Food Journal Said This About Tonka Bars
"I believe Tanka Bars are destined to become the next great energy bar/snake food."
James Mellgren, Editor's Choice, Gourmet Retailer, Jan. 1, 2009

The buffalo is a very scared animal to the Native American and has powerful meaning. To the Native American the buffalo gives one endurance, provides great emotional courage, and the buffalo itself is the provider to all. The buffalo is also a symbol of abundance to the American Indian as there was at one time more of them in America than there were people.

White Buffalo: A White Buffalo, which is rare, has very special meaning to the Native American. It is considered a sacred sign when one is born and has great spiritual importance in many Native American cultures and are often visited for prayer and various religious ceremonies. White Buffalos are a spiritual blessing.

The Buffalo Dance: Many Native American tribes have a Buffalo Dance as part of their religious ceremonies. The picture above is of a Buffalo Dancer. It is a great honor to dance this dance. The Buffalo Dancer is a dance to give thanks. The Buffalo Dancer is thought to take on the spirit of the Buffalo.

Two Strand Native American Turquoise
Magnesite Buffalo Horn Sterling Silver Choker Necklace

This choker is a best seller! This fine piece of Native American jewelry was hand strung by Navajo Indian artist Berlinda Begay.
Berlinda strung this choker with heishi beads of Turquoise colored Magnesite in graduating sizes for an artful look. The center of
each strand has been dressed with a gathering genuine Buffalo Horn beads. The dark and warm shades of the Buffalo Horn give a
sharp and beautiful contrast to the cool hues of the Turquoise colored Magnesite. These Magnesite strands come together at the
Sterling Silver cones. Strung in our shop. This Navajo Indian choker is 17-1/2" long. Beads were among the first things Pioneer
Smiths made, beating them from old coins. At the turn of the century beads were a symbol of fashion and status, which continues
today. How could we ever live without our accessories? It's the little things in life that sometimes give us the most pleasure.
Man, from the earliest times, has considered the adornment of his person to be as necessary as food and shelter. We understand
the true value and nature of hand crafted Indian art. And, we recognize it's important to know that the artist is truly a member of
a Native American tribe. So, to ensure you that this is the real deal, a Certificate of Authenticity has been included with this item.

Native American Sterling Silver Traditional Buffalo Figure Cuff Bracelet Jewelry by Verna
This Native American Silver Buffalo Cuff Bracelet was made in our shop. This is Navajo Indian jewelry at its absolute finest. This Native American Indian bracelet has a cuff that was hand made from a very heavy gauge of Sterling Silver. The Sterling Silver cuff holds a shining row of overlaid Sterling Silver Buffalo images. Silver on Silver, you can't go wrong with that. This Navajo Indian Silver Buffalo Bracelet is 7/8" wide. It'll fit a 6-1/2" to a 7-1/2" wrist. And, we can custom make one to fit any size wrist. Stamped Sterling. Signed with our hallmark by the artist, Verna.

No creature stood closer to the Great Spirit than the buffalo. Relying as they did on the flesh, skin, and bones of that animal for almost everything they needed - be it food, clothing, shelter, or tools - the people of the Plains addressed prayers directly to the generous buffalo, confident that the animal would serve as their intermediary with the Great Spirit. Those prayers brought many blessings. The scared peace pipe was given to their ancestors by White Buffalo Calf Woman, a beautiful maiden who, after teaching the Sioux how to use the pipe changed herself into a white buffalo calf.

No animal has ever given so much to a people as the largest and most spectacular creature of North America, the great American bison. The Plains Indians depended upon the buffalo for food, shelter, and clothing. The Indian male revered, studied and imitated them, and eventually gave them religious qualities. The medicine men called upon the powers of the "spirit buffalo" to help them in rituals. POWER...STRENGTH...PROSPERITY.

It is told that the spirit of the buffalo will return to reunite the people, thereby mending the Sacred Hoop, which has no ending and no beginning. This will be a time for the prophecies to come together, for people of all colors to understand about Mother Earth, and to have respect for one another nations. This will be a time for healing.

We understand the true value and nature of hand crafted Indian art. And, we recognize it's important to know that the artist is truly a member of a Native American tribe. So, to ensure you that this is the real deal, a Certificate of Authenticity has been included with this item.

Frederic Remington Bronze
Indian Buffalo Hunter In Trouble
Tribal Impressions Calls This Work: Indian Trouble!

This stunning museum quality Frederic Remington Bronze is highly impressive! Although photos really do not do it justice, we find this fine work of art one of the most interesting Indian Bronze Sculptures ever created! The Owner of Tribal Impressions Gallery fell in love with this one and wanted to keep it but the staff convinced him it needs to be sold. He simply calls it "Indian Trouble!" The Indian was obviously buffalo hunting on his horse but the horse gets to the buffalo and decides to jump it. As you can see, the horse might not make it and the faith of the Indian certainly lies in the balance of rather the horse makes the jump or not. The event quickly turns from what's for dinner to will I be alive by dinner time. This finely detailed museum quality replica of the priceless original is in very very limited supply but Tribal Impressions has managed to obtain one and one only issued with a name plate that says Tribal Impressions on it. It's currently on display in our showroom.
