The turtle spirit also represents protection as the turtle can protect itself by withdrawing into it's shell as a self-defense mechanism. The turtle has very few predators. It also symbolizes a long life and an increased life span. The turtle represents mother earth herself and is one of the oldest symbols. The turtle teaches us to slow down and faster is not always better. Slow but steady is often the best way to go as the slow but study turtle often wins as the others who appear to be faster never finish!
